Contains photographs of the following military units: 3rd United States (U.S.) Infantry; 166th Depot Brigade, 15th Field Artillery Battalion. General description of the collection: The Robert W. Smithson photograph collection includes subject matter that is the activities of the band of the 3rd U.S. Infantry on the Mexican Border in 1917 at Eagle Pass and Del Rio, Texas, numerous photos of the entire band, individual band members, the interior of the band barracks and the every day activities of soldiers serving on the border; numerous photos of a 3rd Infantry Field Day with various games and a rodeo. An earlly bi-plane and Indian motorcycle are interesting photos; several photos of both Eagle Pass and Del Rio and the native Mexican and American citizens of those troops. There are long photo of the 43rd Company, 166th Depot Brigade at Camp Lewis, Washington and three photos of men of the 15th Field Artillery Battalion in 1950.
